US Embassy Team Visit Hartlepool
A small team of guests from the US Embassy visited Hartlepool on Monday 26th February to talk to students from the town’s secondary schools.
A presentation was delivered to students from Hartlepool College of Further Education, and Hartlepool Sixth Form College.
Young people had the opportunity to hear from Rebecca Zeigler Mano. In 1999 she founded the United States Student Achiever's Programme (USAP) in Zimbabwe. Primarily, the programme's goal was to encourage and assist highly talented high school graduates to access scholarships and full-funding at top US colleges and universities. USAP has since grown into an international programme spanning countries across the continents, including the United Kingdom.
The team also delivered a presentation to Hartlepool Secondary School Students at St. Hild’s School in the afternoon.
At 6pm, parents and carers were also invited to attend a special talk at the Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning.
Councillor Alan Clark, Chair of Hartlepool Borough Council’s Children's Services Committee, said: “This is an excellent opportunity for young people and their families to learn about scholarships and ways to finance education in the US.
“Rebecca Zeigler Mano has a proven track record of assisting highly talented young people to access scholarships at US colleges and universities and I encourage parents and carers to attend the presentation at the Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning to find out more."
