Over the weekend of the 18th and 19th May, Year 8 pupil, Shannon, competed in this year's England Boxing National Schools Championships in Crawley and came away as overall champion in the Female Class B, 54kg weight category.

Shannon is a member the Gus Robinson Boxing Club and has been boxing since she was 9 years old.

Shannon had to box her way through 2 preliminary bouts of three - 3½ minutes rounds and a semi-final, of the same duration, on her way to a winning a place in the final. All of these earlier bouts she was awarded by unanimous decisions.

In the Final of the Female Class B, 54kg weight category, which involved female boxers of the 13-14 year age group, Shannon was awarded the bout after stopping her opponent in the first of the scheduled three rounds.

She was rewarded for her outstanding performance in the competition by receipt of the winner’s certificate for the Female Class B, 54kg category along with a pair of Golden gloves.
