Alternative Curriculum Day - Thursday 21st March 2019
We will be holding our second Alternative Curriculum Day of this academic year on Thursday 21st March. As you know this involves collapsing our normal timetable to give us the opportunity to allow our pupils to participate in a range of alternative learning activities.
Each year group will have a bespoke timetable for the day which will be designed to meet their particular needs at this time. The Alternative Curriculum Day allows us the flexibility to incorporate exciting and engaging activities not included in the normal curriculum. We feel this is an important part of our pupils’ development allowing them to work collaboratively and develop teamwork.
We are pleased to say that all pupils will have the opportunity to listen to inspirational speaker, Stuart Myers. Stuart is from Middlesbrough and was born without arms. Stuart is an excellent example of how you can reach your goals, even when facing adversity and uncertainty. Stuart’s overall 'AIM' is simple: to raise Aspirations, provide Inspiration, and to create Motivation amongst everyone he meets!
Please find a brief outline of the day below:
Year 7 Metacognition and a bridge building challenge. Who will win….Maths
Year 8 Career based activities delivered by local companies aimed at
supporting pupils with their option choices.
Activities include ‘What’s My Job?’ and ‘Decisions, Decisions’.
Year 9 A land racer project involving pupils working in teams to design,
manufacture and brand a land racer ready for testing in a race format.

delivered by RespectMe looking at abusive behaviours.
